RE: NEW MEXICO RV REGISTRATION FEES

They have the tax stated correctly but move to the NORTH where we really have 4 seasons, you can Ski, mingle with the Santa Fe Elite, and it is just a short trip to many wonderful Colorado places to camp. In the SOUTH it blows, floods and get nearly as hot as Arizona
One last thing on taxes is when you buy property it will be reassessed at the current going rate. If the current owner has owned it a long time they may have no idea as to what the current going rate is. You may want to find out what the current property tax rate is as you buy.
If you are looking to relocate just come to the Southern part of the state as opposed to the Nothern part where it is cold and snows in the winter.

RE: Weighing a new class A

That is one way of doing it. However, you really want to know the corner weights. To do this find a county dump scale or a moving company scale that will let you weigh each corner.
Tire info
Read the RV tire guide for specific procedure at the URL listed above.
ENJOY THE RIDEI would like so advise on were and how you weigh your class A unit
Do you just drive up to a scale at the local flying J and drive on the scale ?

RE: To Replace or Not to Replace (Mudflap)

Are you talking about the mud flaps that are hung just behind each rear set of duals or are you talking about the full width that is hung from the rear cross member just at the rear of the MH. If it the second one that I described there was a thread about having it hang down cost ~ 1 mpg. IMHO it also cause dirt and other debris to be pushed up into the engine compartment and just in general make everything dirty. This is especially true if you have a rear radiator vs a side radiator.

RE: How my emergency plans went awry

Read the post about the person that was out a $1000.00 on tires and tell me again that it is better than a spare and that was with Coach Net doing the leg work!!!!!!!!!!!
i was thinking about not renewing my ERS this year but did it any ways a few days ago ,you just gave a good reason to have it even thou i havent had to use it in years.
ERS whether it be Good Sam's or Coachnet is just good insurance. Maybe even better than carrying a spare.

RE: Country Coach Owner Conversation

He is just trolling so I would not pay any attention to it. No data, no documentation just conversation. Sounds like politics to me.
I have had an 04 Allure for 2.5 yrs trouble free. Not sure the intention of this post? All mnfr can produce a bad coach. Like some have posted on buy backs of Beaver Patriots!

RE: How my emergency plans went awry

I think CW ERS is Choach Net. Call them and ask.
Help me out guys. I have the CW ERS and they have been good in responding to my problems. Coach net was mentioned several times. Do you find that a better service? Next year I leave on a one year trek to Alaska and then down the WC into the SW. Any thoughts between the two services?

RE: How my emergency plans went awry

Name me one ERS that does. I carry a spare for this very reason. They will bring you one and charge you for it and I do mean charge you. Depending where you are they may take a while to find one.
For your $285.00 you could have gotten maybe 3 years of Coach Net.
They (Coach Net) will not pay for a new tire.

RE: How my emergency plans went awry

I never thought 911 was designed to get some one out to change or fix a flat tire. Some folks call 911 because they do not the sandwich that was just delivered. I would be willing to bet more then 50% of the 911 calls are not an emergency. Some places are now advertising 311 for non emergency calls. For your $285.00 you could have gotten maybe 3 years of Coach Net.
"Call 911" sez I. The cell phone worked, but the 911 operator did not see any emergency with my predicament, and passed me to the Louisiana Highway Patrol service desk. 2) don't count on 911 to respond to anything but blood and guts on the road 3)

RE: Where the Industry is Headed

I will believe a 70% increase in gas mileage when I see it. I would need a definition of "average MH today to make a start in comparison. I suggest many of the units in this length and weight class today are getting better mileage than the "average MH". You know I can buy a small MB diesel engined unit today that some folks say will get 15-16 MPG. Let compare apples to apples.

RE: Bagman Goes Digital!!

"I can not believe this - as Bagman just proved the impossible!! They did teach an old dog new tricks!!!!!
This weekend Joanne and I drove up to Milford, Michigan to Ron & Betty's Hall's place to have our digital converter professionally installed. Ron (ronfisherman) does a great job professionally making modifications to his Super C or C+ class C. Here are two pictures of what he did to ours:

RE: On the Road--need a part-help

Call 1-800-ftl help or go to the ftl website.
Currently in Charleston South Carolina--on the way here we lost the center cover and decorative nut on a rear wheel. Now all of the lug nuts are exposed (freightliner chassis).
Can someone suggest a parts internet dealer I could order one and have it shipped here?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions
Stephen
We don't have a "toad", that's the reason for shipping it here.

RE: Weighing at Ohio Turnpike toll booths

Some rigs come from the factory violate state weight standards even though the axle limits are not exceeded. In other words you can load the MH to such an extent that you exceed the road limits and still met the axle limits.
Does you friend know what there rig actually weighs at each corner. He could even be exceeding the axle limits if they have not gotten the actual weights.
I think it is great that they are checking as over loaded rigs tear the roads up.
They were stopped at the toll booth, and were told that one of their axles was overweight, according to the turnpike weight restrictions..
The guy was annoyed because he was in not even close to maximum weight listed for his vehicles axles.
Has anyone ever heard of this?

RE: Financing a Class A

If you own a stick house use it rather than the new rig and you may get a better rate.
I'm considering a Winnebago 34M Class A. Sale prices is $90,000. What kind of financing rate can I expect with 10% or 20% down? How many years? I'd like to stay with a loan of about 10 years and would like to see 7% or better (for me, not the bank).

RE: Mid engine pusher?? Anyone got one?

IMHO and to my pea brain if the engine is in front of the rear axle then it is a puller just like a Ford or Workhorse of FRED. If the engine is behind the rear axle it is a pusher even a UFO with a Chevy is a pusher.
IMHO if it is a front wheel drive then no matter where the engine is located then it is a puller.
Just out of curiosity, is a mid-engine application still considered a "pusher"?

We are looking to trade our 2000 Newmar DS DP in for a Newmar 3950 Allstar Family edition with the rear bunks. There arent any around her to drive (or buy for that matter) and i hate to drive clear accross the country only to find i dont like it. My main question is, is it noisy being right there in the kitchen?

RE: Pay for parts?

You read your warranty or service contract. Some pay for everything, some pay for parts only and some pay for labor. You gotta read the fine print otherwise the got you.
onlyHas anyone ever taken their coach to dealer for warranty and had the dealer say they want payment for parts under warranty? I thought that was what a warranty was? Their are small items bay door latch, back up camera/turn camera.

RE: The Perfect Storm-Check Your Hitch Bolts!

They could have been counterfeit grade 5 bolts. A few years ago our good friends from China shipped the USA several boat loads of counterfeit bolts. Just ask the aircraft industry! Most of us have now way of testing the bolt grade as we just have to trust the suppler.
On the grade of bolt, I asked the maunfacturer's rep about putting on some more stout bolts, grade 8. He checked with his engineers who said that the hitch was designed with grade 5. I said, "I know, but in view of the fact that my grade 5 bolts failed, may be they ought to look at it again?

Hitch 1
Hitch2
Here are a couple of more threads on the subject. This appearers to happens more frequently than most of us think about. Checking the hitch bolts is now a routine part of my checking process when I hook the FROG up. Some folks at the camp grounds kind of laugh until I explain what I am doing and why.

I would not have that room in my stick house mush less my MH. To much weight + it does not fit my image of myself.
